A Custom Fit: Ensuring Safe Delivery for a Special Artwork
While on the other side of the island in Port de Sóller, I had the privilege of participating in a unique project at a five-star hotel showcasing the incredible work of artist Carla Raads. A couple was so captivated by her art that they decided to purchase two stunning pieces, each measuring 2 by 2 meters.
My ‘Hugo Will Fix It’ role was to create a tailor-made box to safely ship the artwork abroad. With my car and trailer loaded with wood and tools, my colleague Aron Bueving and I headed to the hotel to fit the artwork into the custom box I had prepared in my workshop.
The hotel kindly allowed us to use their basement parking area, which turned out to be the perfect space for the job. Once on-site, we made precise adjustments to ensure the large pieces of artwork were securely positioned inside the box.
Extra care went into reinforcing the packaging to protect the pieces during their long journey to Botswana. The large scale of the artwork required some finesse, but with careful attention to detail, we got everything just right.
In the end, the artwork was securely packed and ready for shipping. The entire process was incredibly satisfying, and working on location for such a talented artist made it even more special. With the pieces safely boxed up, we were confident they’d arrive at their new home without a problem.
